FAQ

Phase 1 (proof of concept) will be in about 30′ or 10m of water. Later builds will be deeper based upon location, purpose, and client’s request.

No location has been determined at this point. Currently looking at locations from Florida, USA to Central America on the Atlantic side.

Phase 1 will be accessible via SCUBA, but is also not intended for mass market appeal. The final version will allow for entry and exit without the need to get wet, or need to have any previous training. The goal is to allow people to come and go as simple as they would any other travel destination.

We strive to create as little of a destructive impact as possible. Once our habitat is in place, our presence from that point forward will be to enhance the ecosystem. We strongly believe it is in our best interest to help in creating a pristine environment.

Human waste can be treated through many different ways depending upon how many people, and where it is located. However we will not be pumping it out into the ocean as many are concerned.

Seasteading! Where Does the Poop Go? Is a great quick video that explains one of the ideal ways to deal with this.

In some instances a habitat can be moved if the hurricane is severe enough. However as we grow larger and more complex underwater colonies we will need to be deep enough, and anchored securely to the ocean floor. Hurricanes can disrupt an underwater habitat, but it is a rare occurrence, and usually easily avoidable.

There are countless organizations out there tackling this issue. This is not our focus or our “why”. That being said, we are vigilant to make sure we do not add to the problem. We earnestly believe that by bringing more and more people into the ocean, this will raise more awareness and combat the “out of sight, out of mind” problem we currently face.

Space is awesome, there is no getting around that, but we have 70% of our planet covered that we know very little about. The oceans offer a testing bed for space colonization as well as developing techniques and technologies that may be used when we colonize other planets. Also, space is not for everyone. Would you rather wake up to blue water and life teeming at your window hours from shore, or to a barren desolate wastelands months away from home? Both have their appeal, and both have their purpose. We just believe that the oceans should get the same love, and awe that space does.
